Tamar Shalit Avni, Photographer

Tamar (Shalit) Avni is a photographer and lectures at Camera Obscura College and Sapir Academic College. She is also one of the creators of the “Through Others’ Eyes” workshop at the Givat Haviva Art Center, which serves as a tool for building a bridge between Jews and Arabs in Israel

The complex of her work uses photography objects which enable her to go on a continuous photographical journey. A journey of observation and exploring reality. The various objects– mothers and daughters, foreign workers who live and work in her vicinity, women and fruit –provide raw materials through which for examination of questions regarding identity, relationships and time. Time which spreads out as longitude and latitude axes.

In her series – '2 women', 'Fan', 'Delta', 'In a flash' and 'Through the window', the photographer uses a medium analogous format, which enables refined photographical observation and high quality printing.

The photo series "Fan" displays portraits of women.
Body language, a main issue in the series, is examined through the way the subjects emerge in a photographic extreme out of the dark background. The body language is spread out over the time fan of life.
 
The series will be exhibited at the Ramat-Gan museum as a single artist exhibition opening May 10th 2012.
